The Heart Behind My Love Grows
Supporting Families with Intention, Compassion and Steadiness to support your passage into parenthood. Grounded in faith, advocacy and love that grows.
Who I Am
Hi, I’m Kayla Hernandez, a certified birth doula, postpartum doula, and childbirth educator based in the St. Croix River Valley area. I have 3 years of experience and have served 80+ families. I’ve dedicated my career to helping families feel seen, supported, and confident as they navigate one of life’s most transformative journeys.
I’m a wife, and mother of 4. Our family story stretches across cultures, histories, and generations. We come from many places and that diversity shapes the way I see, serve, and support other families. With roots stemming from Mexico, Honduras, Sweden, and Alabama.
We prioritize our faith in God, love and an emphasis on holistic health in our household. With my experience as a nursing assistant and a background in health information management, I combine professional knowledge with compassionate, personalized care. Every family I support is unique — your birth goals, values, and vision guide the support I provide.
When I am not doula-ing you can find me spending time outdoors, exploring new places with my family, learning a new skill, reading, writing and practicing photography and crocheting.
What I Believe
I believe that birth is sacred, that families thrive when they are informed and empowered, and that every parent deserves steady, compassionate guidance. My approach is not one-size-fits-all — I meet each family where they are, tailoring support to your needs, preferences, and birth plan.
Whether you’re wanting a hospital, birth center, or home birth, with or without pain medication, my goal is to help you feel calm, prepared, and confident every step of the way.
What I Offer
At My Love Grows, support doesn’t begin when contractions start. It begins with foundation.
My work is founded on intentional preparation, and the belief that strong families are built through knowledge, unity, and steady support. I care deeply about outcomes, but I care even more about how you feel, how supported you are, and how strong your foundation is before, during, and after birth.
I personally understand the disparities that black and brown families face in maternal healthcare. I serve families across Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin — especially those seeking culturally aware and advocacy centered care. I advocate respectfully and confidently so your voice is heard, your choices are honored, and you are treated with the dignity every family deserves.
Why Families Choose My Love Grows
My work is deeply rooted in faith. I believe God designed birth with intention and strength. I approach families with respect, prayerful support, and reverence for this sacred season. I view pregnancy and birth as a natural physiological process. For most low-risk individuals this means labor and birth can progress in a safe and healthy way with the right adequate support.
Unfortunately, many medical and social systems do not provide the support birthing families truly need. I strive to prioritize preparation, education, and unity over panic or pressure. Strong foundations create better experiences emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I believe every parent is capable of making their own informed decisions that align with their values, faith and needs. As your Doula I am here to honor and empower those decisions.
I hold space and recognize families who require or choose medical interventions, experience complications or face loss. Every journey into parenthood requires courage, resilience and love. Every story deserves to be honored and celebrated.
Proudly serving families across Western Wisconsin and The Twin Cities. My roots are here, and so is my commitment to the families in these communities.

Where to begin.... The day I met Kayla I instantly felt a sense of trust and calm. She was very understanding and listened to my concerns and wants for my birth plan for my second child. It had been about 8 years since I had given birth to my first and I was feeling nervous for birth and postpartum. She was very helpful and attentive. I felt like I could go to her and she was available for my needs. I had a very long and different birth experience and like most births it didn't go as planned. But when I say I couldn't have done it without her.... she was very supportive, kind, patient, and she was right there with me supporting the whole way. She truly is a kind and awesome person. I am so very lucky to have had her there for the birth of my child. She made my difficult and scary birth so much better. I highly recommend her to any expecting mother.

Kayla was wonderful from the very beginning. She was always available and came over to discuss what I needed, and gave me tips to prepare for labor. The day I went into labor, I actually had to do a C section even though she did not have to be there, she was there from there from beginning to the end! I truly recommend her if you are looking for a supportive doula :)

She was the greatest gift next to my husband and children. She was above and beyond and was my last minute doula who made all the difference! She made my experience magical and I felt stringer than ever with her support! I am overjoyed and cannot be any more grateful I pray I am able to have more children and when I do I would not want anyone else there I hope to ask for her each time
